The Light draws us to the Saviour.
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isa 9:2)
There is no other Hope
He alone offers Salvation.
He alone is the very Son of God.
He alone can bring us to Heaven.
“Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man cometh to the Father but by me.”
The Light shows us our sin. It reveals to us our true selves.
Isaiah 53:6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.
1). God is Light, and has no darkness in Him at all.
1John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
2). We walk in darkness.
John 3:19-21 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”
We loved darkness rather than light.
Because our deeds were evil.
We hated the light.
We won’t come to the light lest our deeds should be reproved.
The Light brings us a choice. Life or Death.
1). We can choose Life by Receiving Him.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12)
2). We can choose death by Rejecting Him.
He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1 John 5:12 )
The Light calls us to service.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matt 5:14-16
We are called to be a light unto mankind.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (1Peter 2:9)
The Light guides us in our walk.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1John 1:6-7)
The Light will illuminate Heaven.
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. (Rev 22:5)
We will live in the light forever.- The Light saves us.
We have our fellowship in the light.- We serve in the light.
And we will spend eternity in the light.
The Great Light that draws us to the Saviour
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life." John 8:12
