What is Christianity- Why is it Unique?

Christianity unique among  all other faiths; because is more about a relationships than religious practices. Instead of adhering to a list of “do’s and don’ts,” the goal of a Christian is to cultivate a closer walk with God. That relationship is made possible because of the work of Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel preached to you, which you received in which you stand,  and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

For delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures”,

(1 Cor.15:1-4)

 The Foundational Truths of Christianity

Christianity is based on the person and teachings - of Jesus Christ, It is a relationship with the true and living God through the person of Jesus Christ by whom we are forgiven of our sins and escape the righteous judgment of God.

Paul in Corinthians begins with an epitome or summary of the gospel, namely, the death and resurrection of Christ... It upon this foundation the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead is built. It is the core belief of Christianity

The doctrine of Christ’s death and resurrection is at the very foundation of Christianity. Remove this foundation, and the whole fabric falls, all our hopes for eternity sink at once. And it is by holding on to  this truth firmly that Christians are made to stand in a day of trial, and kept faithful to God.  It was that alone by which they could hope for salvation.

The Apostle Paul states  “For there is no salvation in any other name; no name given under heaven by which we may be saved, but by the name of Christ. And there is no salvation in his name, but upon supposition of his death and resurrection. These are the saving truths of our holy religion”.  (1 Cor. 15:2),

The crucifixion of our Redeemer - and his conquest over death are the very source of our spiritual life and hopes. Now concerning these saving truths observe,

are summarized in 1Corinthians 15:1-4. Jesus died for our sins, was buried, was resurrected, and thereby offers salvation to all who will receive Him in faith.

This statement is unique among  all other faiths; Christianity is more about a relationship than religious practices. Instead of adhering to a list of “do’s and don’ts,” the goal of a Christian is to cultivate a closer walk with God. That relationship is made possible because of the work of Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

“ I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism;  one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you[a] all” (Ephesians 4:1-6)

Walking in His footsteps  -

What these verses are telling us – is that we ought to walk in the  footsteps that Jesus did walk while upon this earth. His life was one of obedience and grace, His words where a smoothing balm upon all that heard Him, He lived the most perfect life.

It is interesting to note that there has many critics and opponents who have tried throughout the ages to find some clink in his life to discredit Him and all have failed

The Jewish sought always to discredit Him, even to find false witnesses against Him and his teachings, and they could find none. He is truly the most unique person that ever lived.

“And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes”. (Mat 7:28-29)
